Cloughs Sweet Shop is over 75 year old family run sweet shop just along the road from us and is a big favourite with the Letslivehere staff.
It has a massive selection of sweets from boiled, jellies, licorice to chocolate, visiting Cloughs is like a visit to Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory, you just don’t know what to go for first, a must for all students with a sweet tooth.
Cloughs Sweep Shop opened in April 1934 and was ran by current owner Alan Cloughs mother and father. Alan began working in the store when he was a small child and started serving customers on an old wooden pop crate so that he could see over the counter.
Ironically there’s still an old wooden chair there for the kiddies to stand on so they can see over the counter when selecting their sweets.
